Can I put my puppy in a crate at night?

It's a large wire kind and I don't have any dividers so he'd have a lot of room in it. I plan on getting up throughout the night to let him out but don't want any accidents in case I sleep thru my alarm or something. Is he too young to put in a crate at night? He is between 6 and 8 weeks old. he is very clumsy so I think he's fairly young
