I am 16 about to be 17 in August and I still have no license?

I was wondering how long it will take me to obtain a driver's license and what are all the courses I need to take. I heard from friends that after segment 1 you must wait 9 months, is this true? I just wanna know all and all how much time it will be before I can have one if I were to start taking the classes immediately. Thanks for the help.
