What is the best bookkeeping or accountancy software for a new user?

i am a new user but need the option to track stock in the future, also i am in the construction industry so any CIS Integration would be useful. ive looked at quick books but it seems a little bit of a 'mickey mouse' solution. any other ideas?? thanks
